Sniper watch.

Mmmmm, possibly a new sport (and possibly dangerous!). When someone important visits, don’t look at them look at ‘them’

Beetham Tower

As Prince Charles was in the area I thought I’d avoid any shite and decided to visit the Cube construction. On the way back I thought I’d take a look at the streets around the Mailbox. As you can see from the above image the position of modern and old looked a nice composition (subjective I know, but that’s what I thought). An ordinary shot of Beetham Tower and a Synagogue (I assume, there’s Jewish symbolism on the fence)?. On the larger image I noticed something on Beetham Tower.

Sniper?

So next time, don’t look down. Look up.

SS Failboat update

So, I missed the first anniversary celebrating a glorious year abroad the SS Failboat.

Well, it’s been fairly exciting. Actually it hasn’t, In fact it’s rather tedious. Still at least we’ve got direction now, so things will improve.

Bike it

Well it seems a sensible solution to the ever increasing shite petrol prices. Though to be fair I’m only driving to the station at present. This however is where a problem lies for me. Acocks Green station seems to have these strange little bike stores that no one knows about. Well, the people in the station don’t know about it. It might be Centro, then again it might not.

The award for the shittest cycling provision goes to Olton station. This has a locked cycling area. Who has the key? Apparently the person in the ticket office. This is fine when someone is there, but often when I’ve used the various stations in the region it’s closed. So if you come home and want your bike when the ticket office is closed then tough. Although I was told you could phone to see if there is anyone in. Pretty pointless if you ask me.

Final solution might be to cycle to work, biggest problem is it’s in the Jewellery Quarter which is bleedin miles away. This would add probably an extra hour or so on to the journey home. Still it’s worth considering as we have shower facilities at the office. For the moment as Rachel is at nursery I’d still need the car at the station for 2 days of the week. But 3/5 days would save me a fair amount I reckon.

Time to dust off the old beast?

3 Mobile USB Dongle Pt.II

Now is the point of no return (well actually it was Saturday). It’s now officially mine and I can’t return it. Do I still want it? Yes. it’s actually really useful. Today’s test was out and about. Started near the station to do a bit of photography, after a work diversion I ended up in Starbucks to test the upload again.

Seems to be fine, no connection problems at all (though being in the city I’d expect it). Only issue I had was a loud student twat who turned up at Starbucks and talked complete and utter shite for the 20 mins or so she was there. Whilst in Starbucks I tried the Citrix connection to the office, it was superb. Seems to work the same as being at home, though dongle Isn’t going to be used for work much as it’s my bandwidth. But the ability to check an email from the office is great.

So after another work diversion, part II of the photography. A place I’d not been to before, the Cube. Currently a huge hole in the ground next to the canal and the Mailbox development. Shot a few frames then headed to a different coffee shop (Costa, frankley the tea in Starbucks was fairly yuk). Again processed the images and uploaded them to the blog.

On the whole I really like this mobile broadband, o.k it does have the occasional disconnect when in the suburbs. But the network will improve, it’s not as bad as the early Orange network was. In fact with the combination of the 3 and T-mobile 3G masts it should be much better.
