Loft – The Final (almost)

And when I say The Final I mean at an end, not reliving the delights of the last Wham album.

For some reason after I painted the walls I didn’t get a picture, I do not know why.  But, you can be assured it looks like the pictures below without any furniture.  So Chalky Blue it is then, apart from the white bits.   It’s not the largest of spaces and I’ve downsized on the desk.  Though to be honest the old desk was mainly crap and paperwork on one side.

Is it finished?, still no.  But at least it’s usable now.  And since I secured the insulation it’s not actually to bad temperature wise.

Desk was changed as I was initially looking at a corner desk, but it was too big. Ikea saved the day with the slim Vika desk.  2nd monitor on the desk is actually a TV, so this will be stuck on the wall (just to the right and above the higher plug sockets).

I should have planned it better to match this storage area to the height of the desk, but I didn’t. Oh well. Not too sure if the Mac Mini (server – where you currently viewing this page from) is staying in this unit. But for the moment it is.

This Underdesk storage will be used for my external HDDs, eventually I’ll stick a shelf in for them. Hiding the mains cables underneath. The dangling other cables will eventually be tidied up. Oh the red table legs, not my first choice but the grey ones were out of stock (and at £2 each it not a big waste of cash).

The undecided Mac Mini/other bits storage area.

Unfinished shelves, odd shape I know but the roof is to blame.

Digital Piano with temporary Piano stool (not a dining room chair honest). Banister also has my router and cabling areas hidden behind the chair. Temporary little table will be replaced by a small printer table. Freeing the space above my Mac storage area.

So bits to finish, Mount the TV on it’s bracket, Buy and Fit the Velux blinds, make the loft access hatch, light and shelving. But it’s a working solution now, so can get on with decorating Callum’s room (then the kitchen).

Loft – an update from the past

Mainly cos I didn’t get round to doing it. So continuing on from the last exciting post, Loz the plasterer (not Loz who works at reception in BCC) had finished and so the painting began.

Smooth Walls and Big camera bag storage.

The OSB painted over quite well

So nearly there………..

Loft, nearly there

As I’ve had a bottle of red and have given up on attempting to play Vivaldi this evening (well the right hand is fine, left is a little variable). Anyway though as the loft is close to completion I though I should post some images from a few weeks ago after it got plastered.

Actually, when I said image I meant YouTube video.

Look out for updates soon (for those that are really interested in loft conversions completed in the style of those weekly build it yourself magazines).

Loft: at last another update

A picture says as thousand words, well it doesn’t in this case it’s just a photographic reproduction of an event which took place in history.

Don’t know what stage I was up to, but I’ve finished the pre-plastering stage.

Banister bit was annoying, it wobbled too much. Hence the end bit was added. Still it wobbled until the plasterboard was screwed on.

I must do an audit of costs so far, not mentioned the current casualty – My cordless drill: it rotates no more. Seems to have seized up. Still got my 2nd power drill of the project to use instead (note 2nd drill, first one died aswell).

Loft Update, April 15th

Back has been better for a few days, just as well as I need to pick up the plasterboard. So now it looks like this….

…..ran out of plasterboard now, need to get a bit more. But I should be on electrics tomorrow, providing that Mr Screwfix delivers (actually that’s only the sockets, I can cable up prior to them arriving).
