Still here……

…..but not got a lot to say at the moment.

I could rant about losing one of my silicone ear buds for my Apple in Ear headphones.  But I’ve called Apple and they appear to be sending me a complete set of headphones (ones with remote and microphone) free of charge.  Which I cannot explain, surely it would be more cost effective to actually produce and sell replacement silicone ear buds.  Still can’t complain if they turn up.

Though is this is attempt 2, as the first attempt resulted in being sent ear buds for the older in ear headphones, which I’ve not seen around for years.  So maybe a mini complaint there then.

So Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat, or me in fact.  Bloody lack of will power with regards to the plethora of chocolates around everywhere at the moment.  Still I did have a starvation day last week.  Well, when I say day I mean 36 hours.  Had a McBreakfast on Thursday then went for a meal at Akbars (Formally grab-a-granny-Liberties) on Friday night.

Anyway I haven’t got much to say at the moment, so no posts/photos about snow, mainly as I’ve not taken any.  Other than a few Twitpic shots of the incoming snowstorm on Thursday.  But they’re Twitpic/iphone shoots so the technical quality is well, crap.

So this is Christmas and what have we done, not a lot to be honest.  Just got older and probably not any more wiser.  To be fair I’ve done well with the lack of swearing on the blog this year.  Other than the odd ‘crap’  I don’t think there’s been anything else.  Not to say I’ve had a no sweary year, I haven’t.  Just I’ve not posted such profanities here.  Next year may change, but at the moment I see no reason to do so.  Mind you I’m apparently joining the ops team next year (and soooooooo happy to do so) so maybe the swearing may have to be re-evaluated probably the first week in January.

Achievements this year:

Almost finished the loft, up here now.  Currently 17 degrees Celsius, so not exactly hot.

Photographed a wedding – probably my last tbh.

Avoided Big Brother.

That’s about it so far.

Disappointments this year:

Cruelly overlooked by Camelot with the lottery, lady luck certainly has sodded off.

Managed to have my 24-105 f/4 L die on my this year.

Not done a lot photographically (though, still had my most productive year).

Not finishing the loft.

Not putting a heating solution in the loft.

So that’s your lot for tonight.

Finished something that I don’t do……

…..I can’t recall If I mentioned I don’t do weddings (photographically anyway). Anyway, Jenny came round to pick up the albums yesterday. She’s very happy with the outcome. I enjoyed the day, not too sure if I’d do it again.

Rachel, Lena and Ana were the bridesmaids for the day

Jenny and Karl

Confetti shot

Cake (made by Louise)

Albums from Blurb

Glad it’s all done, folks seem happy.   Reminds me, must send Jenny the Blurb link 🙂

Where am I going?

I know my current position is due to finish soon and I’ve met up with someone who is most likely to be my new boss. However nothing is confirmed, nothing has been discussed. But as usual everybody else seems to know what I’m meant to be doing, because they were told in a meeting.

Has professional courtesy deserted people? I thought it would’ve been a good idea to actually tell the person first.

Still got a fair bit to do over the next few weeks, and most likely nothing will change until the new year.

After all with management changes maybe the roles I wanted will end up coming my way. Not banking on anything yet.

This weekend would be a nice time to win the lottery though.

4amProject

Yes, it’s back. Well to be fair it’s never gone away, just there’s not been any events planned.

So stick 6th December 2009 in your calender, get up early ready to take pictures at 04:00.

Me, I’ll be heading towards the Bodies Revealed exhibition at the Custard Factory. You can join too (providing there’s tickets left) by clicking on links on Karen Strunks’s website.

So where else can you photography bodies at 04:00 in the morning? Well a morgue I guess, but they tend to be a little restrictive with photography.

So join us looking at bodies.

Condemned

Today we see another milestone in the remodelling of Birmingham. Mike Whitby has won his argument and Patricia Hodge has caved in and gone against English Heritage and allowed the destruction of the existing Central Library to go ahead.

Whilst it might not be everyone’s favourite building it has a presence that will be shoved to one side to allow a multi use development to take its place. No doubt we’ll see a mixture of empty flats, every changing pubs/restaurants and the vast towers of empty offices.

Remember these figures. £193 Million to build the library, £600 million inward investment and 13,000 jobs.

Also we will have no Rep theatre for 2 years whilst the shared atrium is constructed and once the library is sold the land will be private. With all the usual restrictions on public access that private developments promote. Also remember Mike Whitby’s claim that it’ll open up Chamberlain and Victoria Square.

One note of caution for Whitby is the old Central TV studios. Remember that development? I just hope Argent (proposed land owners) are willing to go ahead.

Central Library 1974 - 2014?

Wanna stand for election against Whitby in 2010, @bounder thinks it a good idea. Harborne residents are you interested?
