Bag broke

After around 3 years of almost constant use my Nova 4 bag has (well the strap) has finally retired. I could just get another strap, but really it’s been failing in other areas too. One zip broke, holes in the top flap.

It’s looking a sorry state. I’d get a new Nova 4, but it’s too much like a big man bag now, so what next?

I’ve found the Stealth Reporter D100 very cheap, so may get that. I need to investigate the front pockets though (important for me!)

Birmingham Twestival aka @brumtwestival

So what’s it about then, well……

……..On 12th February 2009 Birmingham will be joining over 100 confirmed cities around the world in a night of fund raising, partying, competitions and all round fun.

There’s been a lot talk about Brumtwestival around the blogosphere, so rather than simply repeat what’s already been said in great detail we’ll start off with a summary of where we’re at.

The Twittersphere here in Birmingham is a very close-knit bunch so of course everyone is actively encouraged to @ their ideas and thoughts to us. To see what’s been going on there’s also an aggregator with all mentions of brumtwestival on Twitter. To get your message to appear simply include brumtwestival in one of your tweets and it’ll get picked up and added to the page.

Prizes and stuff available, but probably the best thing is meeting many Birmingham Twitterers.

So get a ticket (not checked if any are left, still you can do that – it’s late and I should be in bed), tis only 5 of your English pounds.   Oh it’s for charity as well (Charity:Water).

*parts of this post were nicked from the Brumtestival website – including the picture 🙂

So in 2.5 hours what have I done?

Well, backed up my MacBook using Time Machine. Replaced the HDD. Reinstalled OS X, restored Time Machine backup and it’s back to normal now. 🙂

So bigger disk, means more junk.  Yep, may stick VMWare on it and dump and XP/Linux virtual computer on the 2nd partition.   This (250gb – well 230gb) is the largest internal drive I’ve ever owned!  Not bad for £46.54 (Western Digital Scorpio Blue 250gb 540rpm Sata-II WD25000BEVT).  Christ I remember paying £400 for a 20mb Amiga HDD.  Just need to get a cheapo caddy and I can use the MacBook 80gb as an external 🙂

(Though not done system updates yet – still impressed how quickly it’s back to normal!)

Big City Plan – bigcitytalk website

Just a bit of pimpage for those that might be interested in shaping the city of Birmingham over the coming years.

http://bigcitytalk.org.uk/ is the website. Have a poke around, go on change something (or at least express your opinion).

From BCT website:

This is an unofficial ‘plain English’ version of the Big City Plan Work in Progress consultation document about how Birmingham (UK) should be developed over the next 20 years.

You’ve got till the 6th of Feb to do things.   I still need to have a dig around the site myself.
