October 26th 2007: Launch Day.
Since owning a Mac I’ve changed. 2 years ago the thought of paying let alone queuing for an operating system would have been strange. But times change. I’m now an Apple fanboy, so naturally when Apple release the next iteration of their OS I’m queuing.
I initially planned on queuing at 17:00. However I got there around 16:30, so started to queue up then. The closer to the front, the sadder I guess. So I was happy to be number 6 :p (not at all sad then!).
As usual with Great Britain, people see a queue as want to know what is happening. Now shoppers are a funny bunch. They ask why we are queuing, we tell them something along the lines of ‘It’s for Apple’s new operatiing system’. This normally suffices the curiosity of most. However one person, saw the X displayed in the Apple store and asked if we were queuing for X-Factor (no I shit thee not, someone really did). So with this free entertainment the hour and a half soon passed.
