Wii Hunt

O.k. you’ve guess it, I didn’t pre-order.  I was hoping to source one elsewhere, but I failed.  Tomorrow morning is my last attempt I’d say as I’m not going shopping on Saturday/Sunday (yet).

So wish me luck.  Overall not too bothered if I miss out, it’s not the end of the world.

So illness strikes again

No idea what I ate, but last night I didn’t sleep at all. And as usual all the remedies are not in the draw. But praise whoever for the joy of 24 Hour Tesco’s. Now an unusual experience if you’ve never done it before. Imagine a shopping centre open but a bit like dawn of the dead. It is odd what some people buy at this time. Me I had a bad stomach so sensibly went for Gaviscon. Some people seem to be just getting a few bits of food. However why the bloke in front of me had bought Red Bull and Brandy at 4 in the morning is strange. At what point in the night do you suddenly decide ‘Hey, i’m gonna get pissed on brandy but still require the need to be awake’.

Anyway, the Gaviscon seemed to have worked. Still feel crap, but I really should eat something.

/edit:  Well I’ve eaten tonight and still feel crap.  Looks like a night filled with Imodium and Gaviscon.  Maybe a bath might help!

Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 2Ghz 1gb 80gb Hdd

It’s only been 3 months since the big switch and now I’ve gone a bought a second Mac. Well a MacBook to be precise. Why?, well the old HP laptop was getting a little tired. Can’t complain as it was free, only thing I did was upgrade the memory. Anyway that’s past, the future is here (o.k. that’s cobblers).

Why the MacBook instead of a PC laptop. Well I guess I can say I’ve definitely switched, seems there is no going back. I like OS X, it has some quirks but in time I’ll get over them (still think Finder is crap). I decided on the MacBook instead of the pro mainly due to size. Also probably the overriding factor was the fact it was half the price.

Haven’t really used it a lot at the moment, though been using Lightroom beta a lot more. The extra processing power over the MacMini seems to help it. Overall impressed, it’s fairly quiet. Fans do kick in a bit when using PS/Lightroom but that is expected. It seems to cope very well with Parallels/XP.

PhotoShop CS3 Apple Mac

At last, a universal version of PhotoShop. I’ve downloaded the demo of CS3 (however limited to 2 days use only due to not owning CS2). Initial impressions on the Intel Mac is it flies. No more long pauses due to rosetta emulation and lack of memory. Not doing a disservice to Rosetta, it worked admirably. But it wasn’t for me. That’s why as temporary stop gap I purchased Elements 4 (mac).

Again this was a little ropey in its operation, but it only cost £50. I’d much rather piss away £50 on a app thats sluggish and wait for proper version.

Looks as if CS3 is the polished version i’ve been waiting for. CS3 bridge seems much improved (still a little sluggish, but thats most likely my HDD on the mini), Camera Raw seems to have some more options added for correction. Like the ones found on Lightroom. A purchase of lightroom now looks less likely at the moment as Bridge might offer a compromise. Still the workflow of Lightroom would be something i’d miss. Maybe they’ll bundle it together, maybe not. We’ll see come the spring.
