Random picture post

It’s late and I’m bored. Just processed a few images. Quite like this one.

Waiting for the boatThought I’d share it with the world. Well the 4 people that visit my blog.

Picture taken at the port of Limenaria in Thassos, Greece.

Taken with my Eos 5d and EF50mm @ f/1.4 1/25 ISO200. Colours tweaked a bit on Photoshop, as the harbour light made the man look a little yellow.

Websites that don’t work.

It can’t be just me (I know it isn’t), but the number of businesses and services that have duff websites is quite amazing. I won’t name names though.

One is an insurance website that specialises in photography (amongst many other specialties). For a site that aims to attract photographers, you’d think the site would would well with Safari. No it’s fairly crap, as well as not liking Safari it doesn’t work well with Firefox (Mac or PC). Once you’re passed the initial screen, it is better. Still crap, but at least its navigation works.

End of mini rant.

Still losing.

Despite me losing the blog data, I still have the photographic evidence.

Loser

Reposted the picture just to make the off sick wooty feel a bit better about himself.

Bills, they’re like buses.

After a nice cheap(ish) holiday, I come home to find a final invoice for out next holiday. Only £520, nice. Add to that, a nice young lady called to remind me my camera insurance expired. So another £180. Bollocks, just as well my Company is funding my new camera.

/edit, forgot I need to pay for me glasses.  Fuck

2nd Body

Time has come for me to get another.

Initially waiting for the Eos 1 Mk III, however the current AF problems coupled with the cost and availability has got me looking at a more familiar route.  This being the 5D.

Currently the 5D and 24-105 kit is available at the ridiculously low price of £1,999.  Body only for £1,599, so a £600 lens for £400.  Plus there is £130 cashback off that as well (£100 Body, £30 lens).  However the dilemma, I don’t need the 24-105 as I already have it.

That said, it is such a bargain a profit from Ebay could still be made.   But undecided if I want to go down that route.  The cheapest in-stock body is £1519 from T4 in Swindon.  So an £80 quid saving if I drove down.  But the reality is I’d use £40 of petrol to travel down, so best to avoid it.

Another option is to look at the 5D and 24-70 f/2.8 kit, though this is £2,230.  So more money than I wanted to spend.  Probably the best bargain I’ve seen is BG-4 grip from Amazon for £134.  Probably the best option is visit a shop and see what I can get.  Someone *might* do a deal on a 5D body, grip, EX580 Flash and a bigger bag.

Overall I’d still love a 1D, it’s pro-spec and indeed is the dogs bollocks.  But maybe once I start to get a return then I’ll buy.  At the moment it seems common sense might prevail.
