Not motivated at all.

Dunno, just I can’t be bothered to do anything.  Just randomly looking at shite on the internet.  That’s about your lot.  Sod all people on IRC either.  I’ve a bottle of vodka in the freezer, however I don’t want to start a downwards spiral in to alcoholism (just yet).  So I’m resisting the temptation.  Mind you, I’ve also got a nice bottle of red.

(Just noticed, I can’t seem to type bottle without mistyping  it as bootle first.  I used to visit Bootle a while back in a previous job)

So, what has been happening in my life of late.   Nothing other than work really, exciting Novell migrations.  No I shit thee not, people actually still use NDS.  But were ‘upgrading’ them to Active Directory.  So all good stuff.  Maybe my mood is down to me finally finishing a project that only I seem to be bothered with.  Still I done it and I’m happy with the work.
Photography wise, sod all is happening at the moment.  I could submit more stuff to Alamy, however I’ve still got 25 images left to manage!

An image you say……..

Asha

Taken at Asha’s restaurant in Birmingham.  It may be used in a promotional banner.  Anyway it’s a usual Asha’s kebab based curry meal (all meat skewered) with 2 drinks for about £9.  Bleedin bargaintastic.

Anyway, enjoy the rant.  And don’t worry I wont top myself.

Wireless – Update: failed

I dunno what it is at the moment. Everything I try fails. The Airport Express seems to be no exception to this rule. Though interestingly the update applied to the MacBook (802.11n) seems to have a strange effect on my old (now re-instated) Wifi, it seems to kill the wireless on my router.

Having setup wireless on the MacMini it simultaneously kills both Airports.

Anyway, back to the Express. Things seemed fine, until the constant drops in the network. Then for some reason I was unable to access the express via the Airport Utility. So pissed off with the lastest in the line of failing electronics it’s gone back in the box. Ready to return to Solihull. This is where I’ll find out what the store are like at returns.

/edit:  Not too sure if iStumbler is the issue with killing my router.  However the Airport Express was dropping out before I used iStumbler (which was to see if the network was still present).

Hello Japan

Irrasshaimase!

Actually no idea if anyone from Japan reads this, but I’m bored and I like to think I’ve got global appeal!

Why Japan, well I’ve always wanted to go and looking at some books I’ve got to learn Japanese (not touched in a while 🙁 ) makes me think more about the world. I’ve actually learnt some important Japanese phrases over the years.

Biiru o kudasai – I’d like a beer, please.

Chiizu sando o kudasai – Cheese sandwich etc…….

So you’ll agree all important stuff. If I found myself in Japan tomorrow I wouldn’t starve, I might get pissed though. Need to practice Miruku tii o kudasai (tea with milk).

Combining Biiru and piza with ‘to’ makes Beer and pizza please. So I’ve not lost the little I learnt!

I was hopeless with the Japanese scripting (kanji) though.

Home printing

Tonight I’ve gone mad. 5 A4 prints!!!!!

Home Printing

(The other print is on another wall and I CBA to take a picture of that one. Despite it being a stunning image).

Nothing special, just a few images I like. But noticed tonight how much better prints are than screen shots. You can’t tell from here, but the Hawk shot is great (imo). So I guess this might be a start of more printing. Well, the costs of anything above A4 can start to get prohibitive. I’ve still got plenty of paper though. Well plenty of Hi-Res and Matt Photo paper. The latter being good for some images.

Currently at a milestone with the old Canon s750 printer. Now it must be 5 years old now, but it still provides decent quality (Close up you can tell it’s an Inkjet print, but how often do you get a loupe on a print?).

However It’ll soon need a refill. Though the cartridges are reasonable prices (around £5.50 from 7Dayshop) a total of around £25 (inc postage) for the 3 colours and the black. £25 could be 75-90% the cost of a newer, better printer. Decisions, decisions. Plus I still need to shift my none Mac compatible HP LaserJet 1020. Yep, for some things Apple ‘doesn’t just work’, though this isn’t Apples or HP fault, they never got round to writing a driver for it. Seems it’s a common trait with this laser chassis (tis used by many other vendors).

A sale

18th March is a momentous day in history……

1834: Six farm workers from Tolpuddle are sentenced to transportation to Australia for forming a trade union.

1992: White South Africans vote overwhelmingly for an end to the racist apartheid system in a referendum.

2005: Private Johnson Beharry is awarded the Victoria Cross after saving more than 30 of his comrades in Iraq.
