New Season (slightly late)

It’s that time again – actually it was a few weeks back, but I didn’t get round to posting the images for the 1st Quarterly, or the RoseBowl/3 of a kind.

So these are the efforts for the 2nd Quartlerly:

Prints:

Central Library
Central Library
Centre Point

The Centre Point image did well in the quarterly as a digital image, but the lights in the building distracted the judge too much – so for the print i’ve toned them down a bit. The Central Library image is one I though might look good as a print – so I’ll give it a go.

Digital:

Bins – back streets of Brum

Rock n Roll (title might change as I think its shite!)

A couple of randoms for the digital. They might change, but at least I’ve done some!

El Presidente Competition

Hot on the heals of the last quarterly competition it’s the president’s plaque. A print and digital themed competition, this year it’s Wildlife.

I was going to enter a couple of Robin images from the depths of my Lightroom library, but I accidentally showed them to the club whilst demonstrating the club’s new website. So I decided to try a bit of nature in my back garden…..

Morning Brew
Pigeon Portrait

No prints for me on this one as I’ve not got anything ready.

Final Quarter…..

With the league table very close after the 3rd quarterly I suppose I need to select carefully for the next round. My initial selections for both print and digital are below.

I’m not one to repeat images as mentioned before, but for the final competition a couple of returns are in order. Although strictly speaking only one is returning in its original form. 1st up are the prints. Paignton Pier was 2nd/3rd (I can’t remember exactly!) in the Mono competition so I can use it for the quarterly comp.

Fujifilm X-Pro2 – XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS – ƒ/11.0 – 18mm – 30 Seconds – iso200

The North Face image won the mono Digital completion, so I can use it again – but decided to enter it as a print this time. I’ve not got the print yet, so depending on the quality it might still be digital, but for now it’s a print.

Fujifilm X-E3 XF14mmF2.8 R ƒ/10.0 – 1/100 – iso200

Digital entries now…

Fujifilm X-Pro2 XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR ƒ/6.4 100.0 mm 1/7500 200

It’s a bit of an experiment is the above A380. It was well received on Twitter so I might just give it a go. I’m getting a print of this, so it might turn up in the print side of the comp – we’ll see.

Fujifilm X-Pro2 XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR ƒ/6.4 196.6 mm 1/8000 200

Another mist shot, now the danger here is the judge might determine one mist shot to be better than the other and reject one. So this one might change. An alternative shot might be the following Street shot (The Point) – although as an art form Street doesn’t seem to go well with some judges.

Fujifilm X-E3 14.0 mm f/2.8 ƒ/8.0 – 1/80 – iso200 – Fuji Acros mode +Yellow filter

Competition Time – 3rd Quarterly (Transport)

An unusual 3rd quarterly this time as it’s a themed round. I was undecided about the prints as I was looking to have my 747 landing image, but couldn’t quite make it work ratio wise for a print. So a raid of my Lightroom library revealed some old train images from the (now closed I think) Electric Train Museum in Baginton (Near Cov Airport). I had intended to use the Maglev image, but wanted to check the print in Colour and Mono – decided Colour offered a better quality.

First the Prints:

End of the Line
Magnetic Levitation – the future of transport

Now the digital:

Commuter’s Delight
Morning Flight

Slight late amendment – I didn’t think the 747 offered much so I’ve replaced the image with the Morning Flight above.
